At the Winery
Winery
In 1997 brothers Tony and Michael Lee established Foxeys Hangout on the Mornington Peninsula. The winery takes its name from a nearby road junction, where an old eucalypt was once used by local fox hunters to hang their kill.
Foxeys Hangout has three vineyards: Scotsworth Farm, White Gates and Kentucky Road. Each is certified biodynamic, as is their winery at Red Hill. They focus on sustainability and allowing the vineyards to tell their own stories in the wines. Foxeys Hangout also source grapes from other Mornington Peninsula sites, not organic but managed with little chemical input. In the winery they keep intervention minimal, gently leading the fruit's journey to the bottle.
Foxeys Hangout's style is savoury rather than fruity and forward. Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay are the focus. The Single Vineyard range leads the way, with the Estate range close behind.
